Every year Pure Speculation hold the Geeks for Geeks Charity Auction, giving Edmonton's SF fans a chance to show their generosity. This year is no exception, and we ask that you once again show your generosity by bidding on the lots that have been graciously donated for the auction.

This year all proceeds of the auction will go to support “We Dream for Jeanne”, to help Spider and Jeanne Robinson in their fight against cancer. More information about the cause can be found here.

How the Auction Works

Look for the Auction display in the lobby outside the Merchant Quarter. Each lot for auction will have a bid sheet with it, listing a minimum starting bid and three pre-auction silent bid slots. Fill in your starting bid; if you are the first bidder it must at least match the minimum starting bid, if you are second or third it must be higher than the previous bids. Bids are accepted only in full dollar amounts, bids using less than full dollar amounts will be ignored.

Any lot with no pre-auction bids will not go through to auction. Lots with only one or two pre-auction bids will go to the highest pre-auction bidder. Lots with three bids will then go on to the main auction at 5pm, using the highest pre-auction bid as the starting bid. If no one else bids, the highest pre-auction bid takes the lot.

This auction is a cash-only event; sorry, we do not accept cheques, and can not accept credit/debit cards.

Lot #3: Your Name in a Forthcoming Book by Robert J. Sawyer! The winning bidder's name will be given to a character in an upcoming book by Award-winning Canadian Sci-fi author Robert J. Sawyer. Donated by Robert J. Sawyer.

Lot #4 through #9: Play D&D with Monte Cook! This game will take place on Sunday, at 10am. Scenario details to follow, characters will be provided.

Lots #10 through #15: Play 4^th edition with Wolfgang Baur! This game will take place on Sunday at 2pm. Scenario details to follow, characters will be provided.
